28th Annual SCAA Expo 2016 - Ally Coffee Merchants
This year's 28th Annual SCAA Expo saw the unprecedented convergence of people from all sectors of the coffee industry and Ally was excited to be in the thick of it.

Ally's debut Expo booth featured a circular design that showcased cuppings hosted by producers on one side and served brewed and espresso coffees from our roaster partners on the other, illustrating the alliances we help build among all sectors of coffee makers.

The joy of being an importing company is our capacity to connect producers and origin with the world's most talented roasters. It was truly a pleasure to bring together members of those two poles of the industry in person. Our sincere thanks to everyone who cupped and drank coffee with us!

Next door to the Expo floor in the competition area, Ally continued to represent. Our very own barista extraordinaire Micah Sherer crafted drinks made from an exclusive Primavera Sequoia lot grown on Ally's own farm in Chapadas de Minas and using a Panama Jurutungo Geisha from producer parter Graciano Cruz. Our coffees again made appearances in the performances of 3rd place barista finisher Davin Chapman, 2nd place Brewers Cup finisher James Tooill, both from La Colombe, and in James Spano of Cup to Cup's 6th place finish in Roasters Choice and Cole McBride's of PublicUs 7th place Barista finish.

With Barista Magazine we are excited to host the champions' origin trip! The six top finishers from this year's US Coffee Championships will travel with Ally to coffee regions across Brazil, experiencing firsthand the complexities of coffee production.

If you are also interested in joining us on a sourcing trip to secure the very best of Brazil's upcoming harvest for your roastery, email info@allycoffee.com for dates and details.

One of the pillars of Ally's mission is to connect the international coffee supply chain in truly meaningful ways. This year we hosted the inaugural Producers Breakfast, an open networking event for producers of all nations, as an expression of gratitude for the hospitality producers graciously extend whenever coffee people from consuming countries visit origin.

Ally's own origin team, including producer Nilton Messias of Fazenda Sao Francisco in Alta Mogiana, Rodrigo Montesanto, CEO of InterBras, and Eustacio , CEO of CafeBras, two of the exporting companies of the Ally family of businesses handling logistics to guarantee traceable quality, were also present at Expo, taking advantage of the opportunity to meet roasters, shop owners, and baristas and to better understand the enthusiasm that drives specialty coffee consuming culture.

Because we are passionate about education and take seriously our role as ally to both producers and to roasters, we are eager and available to answer any and all questions.
