ABOUT THE ORIGIN
The region of Fraijanes is located in the mountains surrounding Guatemala City. Volcanic pumice soil, high altitudes, plenty of rain, and an active volcano characterize the region. Recent volcanic activity from Volcan de Pacaya has deposited ashes rich in minerals in this area. The soils of Fraijanes have high concentrations of potassium, lending body to the cup and making Fraijanes a natural coffee-growing region. Coffee is cultivated between1,200-1500 meters above sea level, with moderate temperatures year round 22 C (71.6°F) and a relative humidity of 60%. The dry season has lots of sun, and although clouds, fog, and heavy dew are common in the early morning, they burn off quickly allowing all Fraijanes coffee to be sun-dried.
