ABOUT THE ORIGIN
The municipality of Ciudad Bolívar is located in the southwestern region of the department of Antioquia in Colombia's Andes mountains.
Ciudad Bolivar was founded between 1839 and 1853. The main economic activities of Ciudad Bolivar have historically been mining and agriculture, with a particular dependance on the cultivation of coffee, which constitutes between 70-80% of the economic base of the district. Ciudad Bolivar produces a range of specialty coffees, most notably clean and consistent washed Caturra and Variedad Colombia, produced on both midsize estates and smallholder farms.
